The Balmy Apothecary is an independent, family-run business based in Lancashire, England and we are passionate about bringing botanicals and natural skincare that can holistically care for our bodies because we believe in wellbeing that radiates from within. By harnessing the power of the finest natural, ethically sourced herbs, botanicals and essential oils, all free from unnecessary chemicals, we create blends to help you bring outer beauty and inner health in perfect balance.
Balmy Apothecary was born as an idea many years ago, as my son had terrible eczema as a child and my husband had contact dermatitis. When I was growing up my Mother had taught me about basic creams, oils and hand balms as well as some botanicals and so I set about to make a balm that would nourish both their skins. I’m happy to say it was successful, and out of this I began to research more about botanicals and essential oils that could nourish, protect and clean the skin in a more natural way to those creams and potions that big companies bring us. Nature can still provide us the retinols (vitamin A) and antioxidants and many of the bigger companies creams are filled with ingredients that are used as fillers or even some which are based in fossil fuels.
We are passionate about bringing you the best natural and where possible organic skincare using ingredients from around the world, that are sustainably farmed and provided a good income to some of the poorest familes on the plant. The products we have made for you not only meet our selection criteria for not containing harmful or suspect chemicals, but many of them are also certified by the various natural and organic certification bodies around the world.
Our product selection criteria is simple:

Our environmental impact
We try to minimise the impact our business has on the environment. As well as choosing products made by companies who are ethically and environmentally responsible, we do what we can too. Packaging that is plastic is all from recycled plastics (PET) and can be refilled by you for your use.
We try to use aluminium or glass where possible all of which can be recycled. The packaging we use is either recycled or comes from sustainable sources, and pretty much all of it can be recycled or reused, so please recycle it if you can. The boxes and Jiffy bags we use are recyclable with your other paper waste. We also use packing material inside the box which is recycled from other waste.
